Welcoming HoneyComb to the Cosmic Thread Exchange
Last Saturday at Sacred Sessions 9.0 in St. Petersburg, Florida, I had the honor of connecting with renowned musician and internet personality HoneyComb. Known for his incredible beatboxing, looping, and immersive bass frequencies, he delivered a nostalgic, never-before-seen performance.
I hadn’t anticipated how deeply HoneyComb’s sound would captivate me. Just days earlier, I’d been immersed in curating an eclectic vinyl collection for my new record player, with little thought of venturing into electronic music. Yet, his performance shifted everything.
On the day of the show, HoneyComb posted a video expressing his excitement for his set later that night. Naturally, I wanted to share my excitement too, especially knowing I’d experience his sound again in such an intimate venue like Sacred Sessions.I responded with 'LFGGG'—classic 'bro talk,' in my opinion.
To no surprise, it led to mutual excitement when he responded with a “Yeooooo,” which I’m still decoding but took as a positive anyways.
Adding to the lore, back in November, I DM’d him saying, “I think the HoneyComb needs a Bee Rug…100%." At the time, I had no idea he’d be performing in St. Pete.
On the day of the show, he emphasized that message—maybe sparking some suspicion that I had something planned. Who knows, maybe he already knew who I was. After all, he witnessed me gift EazyBaked their rug on 4/20.
Looking back, everything happened so quickly, it feels almost surreal. I do remember exchanging knuckle punches while he fine-tuned his laptop, but these fleeting moments remind me that belonging to something as ephemeral as a shared experience carries its own kind of magic.
While present in the moment, I gradually came to appreciate HoneyComb’s production style and mixing techniques. I was entranced by a human voice interwoven with a looped drum beat and familiar adlibs, all of which narrated the culture of the electrified dance floor. Truly Unreal.
A friend leans in and describes it as “Acoustic Drum and Bass Music,” and from that perspective on, it made perfect sense why I felt so embodied by the experience.
Looking back on the creative entirety of this journey—starting from a place of uncertainty and stepping now openly into the unknown—I’ve come to realize that staying true to your ideas internally, with enough genuine belief, naturally leads to projecting them externally. There are no mental stumps, only hurdles to overcome.
I’m deeply grateful for artists like HoneyComb, whose passion and creativity inspire not just moments of connection, but lasting impressions that resonate far beyond the music. My ears remain mesmerized, still wrapped in the fabric of a profound euphoric state
